When your “little” cousin asks you to be there to document “that moment” when he proposes to his girlfriend, you say yes. (As if he proposed to me! Hahahahaha)
And you make sure, you can coordinate a date that’s good for everyone.
And you make sure you come up with a good enough reason for her to believe WHY you even have to be there with them to begin with.
And then you feel bad for lying.
But you’re so excited that it’s going down!
So, we had our date set for morning portraits at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden – which is one of Kenia’s favorites, according to Danny. We arrive, and it’s crazy hot. I mean, I’m sure I don’t have to explain for those that live in South Florida – but just the walk from the parking lot was tough! Then, we’re walking and shooting and walking and shooting. Kenia even asks me about how I knew my husband was the one for me! (Does she have an idea of what we’re doing?!! Talk about the nerves I was feeling!) I call to Danny to join Kenia for some pictures at some point and I was READY (ahhh!!)…
More walking and shooting, and then my husband and Danny walk into this little pathway and decide it’s perfect. My husband (being such a creative director, like when we shoot together) says that he thinks this spot is perfect and has beautiful light. And it was magical. Absolutely magical. I don’t think in such a spacious area and with 5 of us being loud and laughing, I had ever suddenly had all noise stop, with exception to the breeze (we were finally getting!), and have some of the most beautiful silence as they spoke to each other. Quiet enough that only they could hear each other – full of love enough that we could all feel it. ❤
Then, he got down on his knee with the ring and SHE SAID YES!
We were able to get some more pictures of them together – I mean, we’re already all together and happy!!
Thank you Danny for asking me to be a part of this special day and moment. You know, we’ve all been eager to see it happen and see you two married, it’s an honor I was able to witness it. I’m glad I was able to give these photos to you both to keep forever. Kenia, I don’t need to say welcome to the family, because you’ve been part of it for a while, but welcome! (…to the dark side. Stay; we have donuts!). I love you both!
Here are some highlights from the proposal and the after-moments.
