Newborn sessions are typically done by 2 weeks of life. Booking your newborn session BEFORE giving birth allows us to plan the best session for your new little one.

FAQ

When's the best time to schedule, book and plan for my newborn's session?

There are only a limited number of newborn session I schedule. To ensure you'll be able to get in the time blocked off for your due date, booking and scheduling when you're 7 months pregnant is best to get all details and planning in order.

How old does my newborn have to be for a newborn session?

Newborn portraits are best made between 5 and 14 days after birth. That’s when they’re still small enough to be in curly sleepy poses and don’t mind my touching them too much. I have worked with newborns up to about a month in age for their newborn session and have been able to still get some sleepy baby poses.

Do I need to buy anything or bring anything to the session?

I have blankets, hats, headbands and baskets available. You don’t need to worry about bringing anything extra. Together, we can plan for a specific color scheme and/or theme you’d like to include. This way, you will have images that match your home and the baby’s nursery.

How long does the session take?

The session usually lasts 2.5 hours, sometimes up to 4, when sibling and parents are also being photographed. I don’t like to rush these sessions, as baby is boss! I’ll stop for feedings, change of diaper and even snuggles if it’ll make your baby calm and happy.

Do you offer Newborn Mini Sessions?

Newborn Mini Sessions are not being offered at this time. However, the Shooting Star collection includes only 10 images, which is the typical amount of images my mini sessions included.
